Environment Friendly Materials

The production process of terracotta bricks involves an exploitation of surface soil in paddy field areas. This causes those areas to become infertile and it is difficult to restore its fertility.

Aerated lightweight concrete can be considered as an environment friendly material because the mining of its main substance doesn’t cause as much environmental damage as the production of terracotta bricks. This statement came from an expert in lightweight concrete industry.

According to his statement, the production of terracotta bricks damages the environment because the soil being exploited is the surface soil. This soil contains a organic substances which support plants to grow.

If a large amount of this soil are being exploited to produce terracotta bricks and there is no effort to restore the fertility of what is left, the total area of Indonesian farming lands will decrease and we have to import food and goods from foreign countries.
